Assistant Park Ranger
Provenance Recruitment and Staffing is currently seeking a Temporary Assistant Park Ranger to support park operations for a local county park in Six Mile, SC. This position plays an important role in maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming park facilities while assisting visitors and supporting daily park operations. Work is primarily outdoors and requires regular weekends and holidays.
Job Summary:
This position assists with the daily operation and maintenance of county parks, helping ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for visitors. Responsibilities include directing traffic during busy visitation periods, enforcing park rules, assisting guests, and performing grounds maintenance. This is a hands-on outdoor role ideal for someone who enjoys working in nature and interacting with the public. shifts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Explain park rules and regulations to visitors and respond to public questions or requests for assistance
- Direct traffic during peak visitation periods to ensure safe and efficient park access
- Monitor park access including opening, closing, and supervising park gates
- Patrol park grounds and inspect facilities for safety, security, and maintenance needs
- Enforce park policies, regulations, and ordinances governing recreational facilities
- Work with local law enforcement when necessary regarding security or rule enforcement
- Maintain cleanliness of bathhouses, buildings, and general park grounds
- Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, weed eating, trimming vegetation, spreading mulch, and removing debris
- Operate landscaping and grounds equipment such as lawn mowers, weed eaters, blowers, and other tools
- Assist park staff with daily operational needs and special projects
- Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for park visitors
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Valid South Carolina driver’s license required
- Ability to operate landscaping and grounds maintenance equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions
- Ability to communicate clearly with the public and provide customer service
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and enforce park policies
- Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
- Regular lifting of 20–50 lbs, with occasional heavier lifting
Work Location: In person – Six Mile, SC
Schedule:
- Schedule A: Thursday – Saturday, 28 hours per week
- Schedule B: Sunday – Tuesday, 28 hours per week
- Tuesday & Thursday, 10am – 6pm
- Friday – Sunday: 8am – 6pm
- All schedules required to work all holidays despite the day of the week the holiday falls on
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16 an hour
